She dreaded the time as it grew darker. The night was cold; from afar she could hear a dog letting out a lone cry, sending shivers down her spine.

The mansion was quiet, as if someone cast a sleeping spell to the dwellers. Then why am I still awake? Her eyes, bloodshot from lack of sleep, stung.

Oh how I wish to close my eyes right now and drift to the dreamland.

She turned and tossed in her bed. Ding dong. Ding dong. The clock chimed twice. As if on cue, suddenly a familiar image came to her mind. Excited, she dug into the back of the closet, trying to locate the long forgotten childhood favourite.

Marnie! With fondness, she grabbed the teddy bear. She fitted perfectly in the hug of her furry little friend, falling asleep instantly, just like when she was a baby.
